Work and kids' sports have consumed my life this year. Both of which I love, so all good!! :)
Regan has competed in a couple archery competitions, and came a whopping 7th (SEVENTH, MAN!!!) in the National Youth competition at the start of July. We are so incredibly proud of him, and his little shooting adventures, especially as he only started in December! Aaron's finally got his bow (happy Mother's day present apparently O_o) so the boys are pretty much pigs in mud about the whole thing. P.s Father's Day is coming up soon. I see revenge, and sparkly shoes in his future. Yes.
Anyway.....now that we're up to speed (seriously...that's the only story I can even think of for this year!!)...on to tales of our latest adventure.
The Abbey Medieval Festival. Ooooooh, I had so much fun!! I've wanted to go for aaaaaggggggeeeeeeessssss, the medieval/history buff in me just geeks the hell out over it all. And. It. Did. Not. Disappoint!! As soon as we walked in the place we were all just freaking out over how cool it was!!
Seriously....this bird!!! Amazingly beautiful...yet scary as hell all rolled up in one.
Aaron had that moment of "oh shit, this thing is going to have me". He survived.
So they are all braver than me. He DID have an owl that I was supposed to go back and hang out with...but we didn't. Sad face.
Naw....her little face at the scary bloody camel!! I mean...I laughed...but I also cried on her behalf just a little bit. Kids/heart strings. You know?
The camel behind them was totally terrorising Rorea. Hahaha, I mean...OH NO!!!
So we found an archery range. But of COURSE we did!!! And the kids had a little show off. Well...Regan tried, he was all like "I'm gonna be so awesome at this, cos I'm a pro", and he SUCKED!! Hahahaha, so longbow's are harder than he thought! And Aaron was forcing Rorea (FORCING I TELLS YA!) to shoot right-handed and so she sucked too. Weird kid autopilots to a lefty for shooting. Whereas I'm a lefty, but can't even comprehend shooting lefthanded. So strange. Tangent...SO!
The kid has style....
And we watched the archery comp....both boys itching to be down there getting amongst it! The kid below competed against Reegs at the nationals. He didn't go so well :( But he ROCKED a costume!
They were DYING to try this shit out on each other!!
He was apparently keen to see them try. :/
Bahahaha
I lurved all the details of the place! The tents!!! The costumes!!!! The EVERYTHING!!!! Love love love.
Dude, this guy looked scary as hell, but his smile because he was so chuffed to be asked to have his photo taken. Lol. Sweet as. Even though he squished Rorea's toe with his spear thingy. She wasn't game to call him out on it. She hobbled over and quietly mentioned it to me. Haha. She was packing it!
Dorks. Forever.
OMG the jousting!! So cool. Though no blood. :(
Who knew this was a PROPER SPORT still??? For reals??? So cool.
So....our day at the Medieval Festival was awesome. The kids are keen as anything to go back in full costume next year....and I gotta say...I think I'm with em on that one!!
Next week....P!NK!!! Manchester United!!! Snow Trip!!! Adventures??? YES!
Kel x
