My head hit the pillow last night, and I was OUT for 8 hours straight. I haven't slept that well for EVER!
It was a beautiful morning in Karlsruhe, I skyped mum, the kids and Aaron, and then went back outside to take one last photo...And I didn't even realize that dozens of Polizei cars had lined up in the Marktplatz, and dozens more Polizei officers, including riot cops were around! Seems some drama was in town! As far as we can gather a bunch of young men were staging some sort of demonstration at Town Hall. Excitement! Haha. So anyway...we got our stuff together and got the hell outta there! ;)
Well, we tried to, anyhow! (funny video to follow someday, once I can be bothered to upload. May have a blooper reel at the end of the trip!) Eventually we did find our way to the Autobahn, and headed to Heidelberg. P.s. Autobahns are FUN! (Bekky would disagree somewhat and finds them stressful. I think I'm almost confident enough to give them a whirl myself tomorrow...we shall see!!)

So, we found Heidelberg, and decided to make our way up the mountain to Schloss Heidelberg. So. Glad. We. Did. The castle ruins are AWESOME! We spent an hour or so wandering around, and taking photos of broken shit. Haha. Honestly though, this place must have been phenomenal in its heyday! Absolutely huge, and amaze balls.
Original stained glass! This joint was ruined 300 odd years ago, I believe! Not bad!
And the view. THE VIEW!!!
Heidelberg itself is such a beautiful city. The buildings are gorgeous (yes mum, I've become obsessed with architecture! Haha) and I could have stood looking at the city for hours.
But there wasn't time for that. :( so we hit the road again, and headed towards Regensburg. We played spot the castle. There was loads of gorgeous villages dotted through the countryside, and heaps of them came equipped with there very own castle! Taking photos of these proved difficult, but we managed to nab a few. Most likely exciting only for me. Haha. Got lots of photos of trees, grass or passing trucks mostly. Only gave myself 3 concussions by colliding with the window and camera lense. Who put that glass there anyhow!?
I Haven't seen a single cop car on the roads, though that may be because they were busy with a riot in Karlsruhe today? (or we were going soooooo fast everything was a blur!?!?) Even with significantly higher speeds, everything was just cruising. No real signs of ragers or anything, everyone just goes about their business and get outta the way of the faster cars, and continue on!
We finally made it to Regensburg at 7.30 tonight. We took a couple goes, due to not listening to little miss gps (now known as Knag Kar-dashion - very funny story, most likely only to the people currently in this room) and deciding to follow our own signs into town. Turns out the exit WE wanted to take, took us straight in, and straight back out of Regensburg. We spent a full 25 seconds in town before we were back on the autobahn. Hahaha, in the midst of a million giggles, we had another false start (same wrong exit) and finally listened very carefully to Knag, and got to our hotel safely. So we'll be doing a quick tour of town tomorrow before heading down to Fussen and NEUSCHWANSTEIN!!! Über excited!!
Off to get some zzzz's before another day of Autobahns, castles and loads and loads of giggles!!
Kel x
