HK to Karlsruhe....Day 2

Bus, Plane, Bus, Train, Taxi, and now hire car. It felt kinda good to be out and walking about this afternoon after a monster day of sitting on our butts, stuck in the various vehicles!

It took me 33.5 years to leave my country, and i've been in 3 new ones just today! The 10,000km flight was a doozy, thankfully I was buggered enough to sleep through most of it!! Even the scary turbulence over China, barely raised an eyelid. Hahaha, it seems fatigue can talk you out of any irrational (or very rational!) fears!!

Anyway, we landed in Paris to a foggy, smokey, smoggy day. So not a lot to see really!

We decided to take a bus we stumbled across to Gare De L'Est, which we were assured would take 20 mins and be easier then the train from the airport. Learned the hard way that one must hail a bus, as the first one flew past us even though we were at the correct bus stop. So we got the next one, and proceeded to take the long ugly back roads no one wants to see of the real Paris scenic route including a ten minute stop somewhere, during which the driver even turned the bus off. Hmmmm, so our 20 minute bus trip was over an hour, and the bulk of it was either at the bloody humongous airport itself, or through the outer suburbs.....definetly not the face of Paris we are used to seeing!! Anyway, eventually we made it into the city, and got a couple of glimpses of what usually comes to mind when one thinks of Paris, such as.....

....such beauty...

Finally, heading in the right direction!!

It's rather quite the attractive train station. Seriously Australia, get your shit together and give us some of this action!!! Now unfortunately, we were too busy finding lunch and rushing to get our train...our carriage was the last in about 155 of the train, and we got there JUST IN TIME, and I took no photos of the inside of the station. I know! So I shall go back in a fortnight to hang out with the pretty station again. Haha. We have unfinished business....

So, the sucky fog/gloom continued well into the countryside, not helped by the fact our window had some fog issues of its own. Sad face. So we didn't get a whole lot of photos of the French countryside either. What a pretty country. Love love love the little villages dotted throughout!! Aaron, I think we should move there. Thanks. :)

For example, this shall be our new abode. Yes. Please.
Cute.

Also cute.

So eventually we arrived in Karlsruhe. Wow, for a town we accidentally decided to stay in, we love it here!! We picked up our hire car (brand new BMW, thank you very much!) and headed to our hotel. And once we dumped our stuff and got changed, we headed out for a wander and explore! Such an awesome place!

The town hall, in La Marktplatz, also happens to be directly opposite from my room!

The cop station, again, Australia, we could do better!

Our hotel for the evening.

The Marktplatz. Noice.

So many cute little alleys. And yes, I realize "cute" is apparently the word for today. Get used to it.

The palace. Not cute. Definitely huge. Definitely amazing. Loved hanging out there!

Naw...the poor little dragon :(
Is a popular place for afternoon chilling...
Sooooooooo tired!
Awesome features

Me and my mate, the palace, hanging out.

So, we are heading to Regensburg tomorrow. Not sure yet what we will be seeing on the way. Whatever it is, I'm sure it will be an adventure! Fingers crossed you will even get a coherent post! Which will be vastly different then the ones so far! Haha.

Time for bed, sooooo looking forward to sleeping on a flat surface!!

Love Kel x
