Day 6 & 7 (??) Roma!!!

I have no idea what day it is, or how long I've been gone. Haha.

We caught the overnight train from Munich to Rome, and arrived at Roma Termini about 9am Saturday. Wow, that station is huge! We set about trying to find the Metro, and headed downstairs to our line. And headed downstairs, and headed downstairs. I think we were almost back in Australia by the time we got to the level with our train!! Haha. And those STAIRS were great fun with all our bags! We discovered Romans aren't necessarily very patient with tourists who have a multitude of luggage also. Anywayyyy...

So, we made it to our station, and Roberta picked us up and brought us back to their place, my home for the next week! It's so good to finally be here, after telling her for about 18 years that I'll come to Rome and see her "soon"! Finally, I'm here! Better late, then never, yes?

Bek and the kids headed off to their hotel for their stay in Rome, and I headed to bed for a nanna nap. Haha. It appears jetlag is finally catching up with me!

Roberta & Fabio had friends come join us for a pizza party, it was wonderful to meet them all....although I know minimal Italian, and they knew minimal, or no English!! Haha. But it was a lovely evening anyhow! Roberta found it amusing when I recognized part of a conversation....naturally it was when they were swearing. Pretty much the only Italian I remember!! Hahahaha!!

Today we had a late start, and then finally I went into the city for some site seeing!! Fabio drove us in (in his Dodge O_o ) and so we had a park nice and close to the action. We visited where they both work, and wandered through the nearby streets.

First major stop was the Pantheon. I knew it would be big, but I really was surprised when I saw it! It's huge! In fact, everything in Rome is massive!! And of course, amazing! Hahaha.

Such wonderful friends...love them so xxx

We wandered up and down so many gorgeous little streets and alleys. I fought the urge to take photos of everything, (seriously, I've taken about a tenth of the photos I expected myself to be taking!) but even then Fabio started calling me a Japanese tourist for taking so many!! Haha. Oh dear.
And found a plethora of piazza's and fountains and statues, and buildings, and just awesomeness in general!

Poor old Bruno. Burned at the stake for heresy in 1600, in the Campo de' Fiori. Misunderstood, I'd call him.

I was surprised to find such a tiny door. Haha, every other door had been massive to this point!!

And of course we visited Trevi!!! I HAD to throw a coin in there so I could return! To miss That wasn't worth a risk!! Eh, if worse comes to worst, at least I've helped the Red Cross! ;-)

I'll be back!!!!
The rest of the day was spent just hanging with my gorgeous Italians.
seriously, could this kid get any cuter!?!?!
Also, I'd happily drive in Munich any day, after experiencing Roma traffic!! Hahaha, oh dear god I would never get behind the wheel here!! I think that's why the Vatican is here....God needs to be nearby to protect the people on these roads!!! Ahahahahahaha.
Speaking of the Vaticano, am planning on spending the bulk of tomorrow there....unless struck by lightening when walking through the gates!!! ;-)
Having a ball,
Kel x
